Gregory is one of Yorkshire’s leading classical guitarists performing regularly at a wide range of venues across the region and further afield.
He has attended master classes with some of the worlds top classical guitar performers including Norbert Craft, Richard Wright, Elliot Fisk, Nigel North & Gilbert Biberian.
Gregory graduated from Sheffield University with a BMus Hons and has since attained a Postgraduate Certificate in Higher Education from the same establishment. He is a member of the European Guitar Teachers Association and an associate of the Higher Education Academy and currently works full time as a guitar teacher and freelance performer.
Gregory primarily studied under the instruction of Peter Batchelar (one of the North’s leading guitar teachers and author to the ABRSM’s latest series of classical guitar music educations books) and he has also attended guitar master classes and workshops with some of the worlds top classical guitar performers and teachers including; Norbert Craft, Richard Wright, Elliot Fisk, Nigel North & Gilbert Biberian.
With regards to performance, Gregory primarily performs solo and concerto recitals on his classical guitar but has also performed with solo singers and ensembles. He has performed extensively across the UK and performed the UK premier of Haflidi Hallgrimsson’s Jacobs Ladder (2005). Gregory also worked alongside Andrew Lawrence-King (head of the internationally acclaimed ‘Harp Consort’) as band leader in the world premier of the Spanish Baroque Opera Armonía de los Tres Mundos (2005) and again in Celos aun del aire matan (2008), in the first performance to use the original score. Gregory was also band leader in the production which gave the British, Irish and Tenerife premières of the Opera La Purpura de la Rosa (2003).
